CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation: Opening Instructions and Usage Tips.

I don't think I have ever received as many e-mails as I have before now, than with the questions I have been receiving about Simply Ageless, the new foundation from CoverGirl and Olay. I told you about this foundation innovation just before the Holidays and it seems as though many of you have purchased and have questions. The number one question I get is, "How do I open this?". So I went to CoverGirl and have the information for you right here.

I have discovered not only how to open the compact itself, but found some great tips on how to use this as well.

First, to open the product. There are two parts to the compact. The top part, which contains the actual foundation, and the bottom part that contains the sponge. The bottom simply flips open to obtain the sponge, and lets you keep it there when not in use. To open the top part, you need to twist the large clear lid off of the jar. It only takes one turn and it will open. The lid might be on tight, but it will definitely open with not too much effort. Remember, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey: Turn it to the left to open, to the right to close.

To apply the foundation, simply smooth the sponge across the compact to blend the products together and apply. The white color will never ever change the color of the foundation. It is just the special process by which the products were made to work in conjunction with each other. If you want to see it in action, check out this video with CoverGirl Makeup Artist Molly Stern, as she uses a wedge sponge to apply it to a model. To get a softer more sheer finish, dampen the sponge with water before applying.

I wish I had of read post before purchasing. First post is Jan. 2009 and here is is 2011 and issue is still not corrected. I have tried all hints above plus my big strong husband and have yet to open it. Just going to return.
Not to mention that this HUGE package contains a minimal amount of product. I ended up breaking the lid while trying to bang in on a hard surface - took it back to the store and they wouldn't return it because it was broken!!! Eyeeeee! Never again will I buy this!!!!
It's stupidest packaging design I've ever come across. I can't believe they haven't changed it yet after 2 years.
Thanks a million for these instructions. Interesting that on the search engine - it came right up before anything about the product itself! "How to open..." lol
Thanks - my husband was finally able to open it.
If you have arthritis in your hands, it doesn't seem so Simply Ageless!
I still cannot get this product open. I will take it back tomorrow...darned if I want to struggle to use the stuff!
Oh my goodness; banging it on the table and the floor? Seriously, that is too funny. I had no problem opening it and think it is a clever design. All you have to do is examine the compact and see that there is a hinge and a groove for your finger or thumb to open the sponge compartment. Remember, patience is a virtue.
I could not open either of the two new foundations I bought. I had my husband try, no go. I had my son try and he could not open either of them. Soaked them in hot water, nada. Banged them on the counter, nada. Finally read the clue about pushing down on the top. I tried again, nada. My son tried one last time and after much strength and muscle, he got them both. I was ready to take them back to the store and have them open them. My son says if you have to push down on the top when turning there shoudd be some rough material on the lid to give something to hang on to. Bottom line is for Cover Girl to go back to the drawint board FAST on this one or we won't be buying the product anymore.
This is truly the worse set up I have ever seen. They should just leave the sponge out. What good is it if you can't get the foundation open.I am going to try one time then, its going back and I will inform my friends. Its crAzy! This is a bad packaging .Take notice CG. 9-20-2011
I'm returning it tomorrow - I cannot get the lid open = like others before me I have pounded and used my reliable jar opener and everything possible (didn't hit hit with a hammer yet ) sure hope they take it back - it's not that cheap don't you know.
It has taken me six days to get it open. Haven't had a chance to try it yet...
Just purchshed this product and could not open it--try as I might. Think goodness my son was here to man-handle the absurd thing open after a couple of tries. I would never have gotten it open by myself!
I was about to lose my mind trying to open this blankety blankety jar!!! I'm glad I wasn't the only one. Thank you!! Glad I googled before I threw it against the wall. It BETTER be worth it!!!
