CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation: Opening Instructions and Usage Tips.

I don't think I have ever received as many e-mails as I have before now, than with the questions I have been receiving about Simply Ageless, the new foundation from CoverGirl and Olay. I told you about this foundation innovation just before the Holidays and it seems as though many of you have purchased and have questions. The number one question I get is, "How do I open this?". So I went to CoverGirl and have the information for you right here.

I have discovered not only how to open the compact itself, but found some great tips on how to use this as well.

First, to open the product. There are two parts to the compact. The top part, which contains the actual foundation, and the bottom part that contains the sponge. The bottom simply flips open to obtain the sponge, and lets you keep it there when not in use. To open the top part, you need to twist the large clear lid off of the jar. It only takes one turn and it will open. The lid might be on tight, but it will definitely open with not too much effort. Remember, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey: Turn it to the left to open, to the right to close.

To apply the foundation, simply smooth the sponge across the compact to blend the products together and apply. The white color will never ever change the color of the foundation. It is just the special process by which the products were made to work in conjunction with each other. If you want to see it in action, check out this video with CoverGirl Makeup Artist Molly Stern, as she uses a wedge sponge to apply it to a model. To get a softer more sheer finish, dampen the sponge with water before applying.

I didn't have a problem opening it! BUT I HATE THE PRODUCT! I expected it to be very creamy and smooth! NOOOOO it went on my skin like old pancake makeup and made my skin look very matte and flaky YUCK!
What a piece of crap! I could not open this even after banging it on the table and finally had to pry it open which broke the darn thing! Don't buy it! It's just not worth it. Covergirl should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such an inferior product.
I bought the product, mainly because I love Ellen, she looks amazing. I too had a difficult time
opening the proudct and went on line as a lark to see if there was information. I used Covergirl & Olay ivory. It looked a little dark in the container, match my skin perfectly. It goes on beautifully and feels light on the skin. I will continue to use it.
Boy did I feel stupid until I read all these posts! Plus a page for instructions on how to open the dang thing. Ha! If the market is the older set, many of us have hands that don't work like they did 20 years ago. I am hoping Cover Girl reconsiders the packaging of this product. I finally got it open - thanks for the instructions.
Ok, it is just not sensible to make a product sooo difficult to open. thank goodness i found this site because I was about to throw this up against the wall!
Thank goodness for the internet. I would have returned this product if it weren't for this web site.
I really struggled. But I got it open after a few minutes of trying after reading here. Thank you! Now to try the product!
I love the product, hate the packaging. Why it was not packaged as a compact is beyond me. When you have to apply or freshen your makeup "on the go", it's great to have a compact with applicator mirror and foundation all in one little tray... like some of the other covergirl products. Taking this one apart means you need a counter to put half of it on and a wall mirror to look in.. I never touch counters in public restrooms...Clearly you guys got cute with the packaging, but it was probably some male engineer who came up with this and did not let us ladies have input. If you fix the package I'll buy one for each bag, my cars and my desk.
Having just purchased Covergirl&Olay makeup, I was excited to come home and try it. I just got out of the hospital two weeks ago and thought I was too weak to open the product. I tried and tried and was worried about what I had just purchased. I finally ran hot water over the compact and tried again. It finally opened after the hot water. I am now worn out from all the effort. I do look forward to using the product.
Bought this yesterday and planned to return it today! I just could not open it and decided such a waste of money! After trying Google, I managed to open it. I have used Cover Girl for many, many years and never a problem but this was unbelievable.
I have sprained my finger trying to open it and still no luck. I do not have the receipt since I never imagined I would have so much trouble. My husband cannot even open it. I am very upset. Maybe CoverGirl will let me mail the UNOPENED thing back to them for a new one or refund as the grocery store won't.

K. H. in Texas where men are strong and hate to be beaten by a makeup case!!
I thoughtI I was the only one who had a trouble opening the compact. I like the product but as an oldie I'm haveing diffeculty even holding it while I use it. Hope you change the container not all of us are 20.
Was about to take it back....then I banged the ***%$%^ blasted thing.
A beauty product should not create wrinkles! This is the last one I buy...wasn't the packaging tested?
Well, I figured out how to open it- but my complaint is - it does cake on the sides of your nose and in any creases you may have. If I could take it back - o yes I would. Just too much money to waste trying something that doesn't work.
For all of you that are not happy with the foundation, CoverGirl is offering a 100% Money Back Guarantee. Simply return it to the store where you purchased. Here is the guarantee form: http://www.covergirl.com/products/pdf/simply_ageless_guarantee_form.pdf
This product is great. It was so easy to open. Just open the lid on the bottom and twist off the top. Not that hard is it. Color was a perfect match and I would buy it again. I love Cover Girl products.
Opening was a breeze. Product is great. Will purchase again.
I also could not get it opened! Finely after scuffing my knuckle and messing up my nails it opened! Thinkink of returning it! Thanks covergirl!
I just bought my first CG-Simply Ageless and I also was very frustrated in trying to open it and went to google for opening instructions. I have never had a problem opening any makeup product except for this. I too had to bang it on the counter like a pickle jar to loosen and finally I could turn and open it. Not very smart packaging espessically at $13.00.
Does Cover Girl realize the cream foundation is appealing to older ladies who have trouble opening jar lids with arthritic hands. This was very painful to open the lid as it was extremely tight. I broke the sponge lid trying. Can anyone write to cover girl and let them know?????
I don't know what the problem was with opening it; I didn't find it to be a problem at all. I liked the fact that it Could NOT be opened and tried by customers and then the buyer uses it. Aside from this, I have spider veins on my legs and this is better than any concealer i have ever used. If I could suggeset one thing, it would be to have a "tester" for all of the colors; it would save a lot of returns.
Banging it on a hard surface worked for me. Very poor design. I hope the product is better.
I have never....ever....had to go on line to figure out how to open makeup....very stupid pkging....CoverGirl...re-group! You will loose $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I have not used it yet...as I can't open it.
Thanks so much for the inffo!!
I thought I was the only one that couldn't open the darn thing!!
Yes, the bottom flips and is no problem, but the foundation is another can of worms.
Followed your insructions and worked fine.
Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much for this information. After 5 people trying to open the container we finally did it.
Thanks for the link to the video too.
I too, could not open it. It was very, very tight. Thanks for the help. I'll try it tomorrow AM.
