CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation: Opening Instructions and Usage Tips.

I don't think I have ever received as many e-mails as I have before now, than with the questions I have been receiving about Simply Ageless, the new foundation from CoverGirl and Olay. I told you about this foundation innovation just before the Holidays and it seems as though many of you have purchased and have questions. The number one question I get is, "How do I open this?". So I went to CoverGirl and have the information for you right here. 

I have discovered not only how to open the compact itself, but found some great tips on how to use this as well.

First, to open the product. There are two parts to the compact. The top part, which contains the actual foundation, and the bottom part that contains the sponge. The bottom simply flips open to obtain the sponge, and lets you keep it there when not in use. To open the top part, you need to twist the large clear lid off of the jar. It only takes one turn and it will open. The lid might be on tight, but it will definitely open with not too much effort. Remember, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey: Turn it to the left to open, to the right to close.

To apply the foundation, simply smooth the sponge across the compact to blend the products together and apply. The white color will never ever change the color of the foundation. It is just the special process by which the products were made to work in conjunction with each other. If you want to see it in action, check out this video with CoverGirl Makeup Artist Molly Stern, as she uses a wedge sponge to apply it to a model. To get a softer more sheer finish, dampen the sponge with water before applying.

Had a hard time opening this product. Tried all the suggestions, but nothing worked. Finally, I took a hot washcloth and wrapped it around the compact for a minute and it opened! Hope this suggestion helps someone.

I bought this at Walmart this morning and I have been trying to open it for quite some time now. I am very, very frustrated. Looks like I will have to drive back to walmart and ask someone at the service counter to help me open it. I have acutally tried so many times that my hands are aching. I have used Cover Girl products for many years. Never have I seen anything like the packaging of this product. I am actually steaming mad right now.

I have been using the foundation since a month and i find my face with scaley patches and it seems to cake up in spots and it makes my skin look real pale the number is 230 is there a darker shade? That is the colour at the cosmetic counter at shoppers drug mart thought i should have .

I had to take a screwdriver to mine to get it open. I do believe a man created the packaging because I don't think a women would have made something so difficult to open. Covergirl, your product is very good but you must improve the packaging. I think we should all write to "Ellen" and then just maybe she could talk to Covergirl and get the packaging changed for us.

Okay, I spent about 30 minutes this morning trying to open this ridiculously designed compact....WTF!!! What was the point of constructing it like that??!! To get a laugh? If so, it worked! I felt like an idiot!!

I'm joining the others. Are we not supposed to use this? Or just spend our money on it and not be able to get it open? I have twisted,banged, and pried this and still cannot get it open. Some man must have designed this product and not have been tested by a woman.

Nice! That's how figured it opened after 15 minutes but still can't get the *&%* thing open UUUUUGHH I also have the blush I can't open either!!! Who came up with the packaging...this is when you need a man around grrrrrr!

Very Frustrated!!!!! I was not able to open this product! Even after reading all instructions from CG and all the post from other frustrated buyers ..... I have arthritis and the cramps in my hands caused by trying to open this will keep me from spending money on CG products in the future. This should come with a warning!

OK ladies...I bought the think for the first time today and of course couldn't get it open. Believe it or not it's a physics problem due the the plastic like insert inside the makeup side of the compact which causes a vacuum. Turn it upside down so the clear side is facing down. Give it a couple of hard whacks on the counter in this position, turn it on its side and give a couple of hard whacks and the lid should twist off because the vacuum seal is broken. Serious design flaw at least as user friendliness is concerned!

I had a REAL hard time opening this until I tried the following. I tied a thin elastic band on each side to get a better grip and it WORKED! I think partly the reason why we can't open it is because it is so difficult to get a grip! I hope this helps...Very poor design! But the makeup itself is not bad!

This is the worst packaging ever!!! I resorted to reading this web site, which is a first just to open a product! Serious design flaw. There should be instructions on the package on HOW TO OPEN IT!!!.. This would help. Obvioiusly instructions are needed if there are so many accessing this web site. I was only able to open it after reading someone else pushed down on the lid as they twisted it off. Very very frustraiting!!!!
Also interesting to see what others paid... i paid $18.99 (in Canada).

I also purchased the CG Simply Ageless Foudation and found that I could not open the darned container. I followed all the instructions and I do understand that there are many people who have bought the product and had no problems with it. I'm a personal trainer, so I'm definitely not weak by any means, but this is absolutely ridiculous. I went as far as using "rubber" bottle openers to try to budge the lid, but to no avail. Shame on Cover Girl. You have a fantastic product here ... spend a little more on the container or on quality control, so that we can actually use it.

What were you thinking?? I have always liked cover girl makeup but trying to open this is rediculous. Found the sponge right away. Followed your instructions and it still won't open.

I will try some more. Would not recommend this or buy it again.
