Did you know that April is Rosacea Awareness Month? Did you know that I suffer from Rosacea? I never knew this until recently. I do blush easily and get very "red" and irritated when eating certain foods, drinking wine, or from just plain stressed, or even excited. I thought it was just me, and I have learned to cope with it over the years. For me, it is mild. Bit for some it can be really life-altering. Thanks to a slew of products made specifically to combat this redness and rosacea itself, it doesn't have to be as bad.
Being that is is Rosacea month, I have learned a few things. Rosacea affects upwards of 45 million people worldwide. An estimated 16 million Americans have Rosacea and most of them don’t even know it. I did not know it, but just doing a few quick tests can tell you is you have rosacea or are prone to get it.
- If you have a glass of red wine (or two) and your face flushes or feels warm, you have (or will develop) Rosacea.
- If you exercise or are out in the cold and your face stays flushed for 15-30 minutes after you are resting or back inside, you have (or will develop) Rosacea.
