4 Powerful Products for Rosacea.

Did you know that April is Rosacea Awareness Month? Did you know that I suffer from Rosacea? I never knew this until recently. I do blush easily and get very "red" and irritated when eating certain foods, drinking wine, or from just plain stressed, or even excited. I thought it was just me, and I have learned to cope with it over the years. For me, it is mild. Bit for some it can be really life-altering. Thanks to a slew of products made specifically to combat this redness and rosacea itself, it doesn't have to be as bad.

Being that is is Rosacea month, I have learned a few things. Rosacea affects upwards of 45 million people worldwide. An estimated 16 million Americans have Rosacea and most of them don’t even know it. I did not know it, but just doing a few quick tests can tell you is you have rosacea or are prone to get it.

  • If you have a glass of red wine (or two) and your face flushes or feels warm, you have (or will develop) Rosacea.
  • If you exercise or are out in the cold and your face stays flushed for 15-30 minutes after you are resting or back inside, you have (or will develop) Rosacea.

Here are 4 powerful products are helpful in dealing with rosacea.

SkinCeuticals Redness Neutralizer - $63.00
Designed for sensitive Rosacea skin types, this lightweight gel cream strengthens the skin’s protective barrier, reduces redness and flushing, and alleviates irritation. Specifically formulated with patent-pending neuropeptides and antioxidants, the combination regulates inflammation and reduces skins temperature while soothing ingredients comfort irritated skin.

Darphin Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum - $85.00
This highly potent soothing serum is dedicated to sensitive skin prone to irritations. Using this daily helps diminish the appearance of redness and quiets the appearance of irritations as it softens skin.

Sadick Dermatology Group PM Rejuvenation Cream - $38.00
From world renowned dermatologist Dr. Neil Sadick’s Park Avenue Prescription starter kit, this PM Rejuvenation Cream is a calming and relaxing formula with pigment and redness fighting agents. It not only targets melanin to help with melasma and age spots, it targets the hemoglobin which causes redness, irritation and rosacea. It reduces the inflammation while hydrating skin and improving overall skin tone.

L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Anti-Redness Primer - $12.95
Studio Secrets Professional Color Correcting Primers glide on smoothly to immediately neutralize color imperfections such as redness. The moisturizing formula blends effortlessly into skin and can be worn alone or under makeup. I blend a very small amount over my skin after my primer and it does a great job at diminishing the redness.

I have rosacea and didn't know about it until recently either. I thought that blushing was part of my heritage because my mother blushes easily too. I need some product to help combat this and I have been on the search. Thankful that I came across your posting.
I have used a green based concealer to cover acne scars that are very red for years. It works well.
I hope you get the help you need from these products, Ana. Best of luck to you; you know I can relate.
Wow, great information... I had no idea & never thought that it was rosacea that was causing my face to stay so red, hot and inflamed for so long after exercise or a hot shower or all the other things that you mentioned in this article. My mother had rosacea, but it was a completely different kind so I never thought a thing of it so I always pictured it as being something different...I just thought I was overheated. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful information & solving this mystery for me. :)
The red wine test could be a lot of things other than a real dermatologic condition. It could be alcohol dehydrogenase deficiency or just allergy to alcohol (if accompanied by itchiness). Anyways, I really like how you specified the products for rosacea because it's really difficult to find them in the beauty department. I know of someone who has it and this list of products will definitely help. Thanks.
I tried the Sadick Dermatology Group products and was really impressed. I am 67 and have suffered from Rosacea for years. Now I have no more redness on my skin and it looks great. This is the only product that works.
Thank you Teri for this wonderful information, like you I have always blushed easily and become red when excited. I am 40 years old now and from the age of 25 I noticed my skin tingling and becoming inflamed when I eat spicey food. Alcohol is another problem as well as exercising.

I loved the products you listed and will be giving them a go. I used to use a green tint moisturizer but saw Bobbi Brown on British TV about 8 years ago talking about her foundation being good for people with warmer complexions. I started using the foundation and haven't looked back. My 'Hulk' David Banner green makeup, went in the bin.

Thank you for this wonderful article and helping to make me feel less lonely about my condition.
Best wishes
Louise
