Back to School Beauty: Physicians Formula Blemish Rx.

Finally - most of the kids are back in school. Yes, yes, yes! Can you see me doing my happy dance? I was not looking forward to it, honestly. But now that I have quiet for almost six hours a day, I am lovin' it!
I figured it is not too late for another Back to School Beauty post. Especially now that my daughter's friend was stressing because she had a pimple form during her first day of school. While it was barely noticeable to me, you know that is all that she (13 year old) saw on her face. We went through my stash and came up with Physicians Formula Blemish Rx, and I had her give it a try.

In this handy little pen type applicator is a tinted treatment to not only cover, but to treat the pimple at it's core. The formula contains CliniClear Technology™, a unique blend of time-released Salicylic Acid and clearing botanicals. This makes the treatment fast acting, and tolerable without being over-drying. Instantly the pesky pimple was not noticeable because of the color. Within an hour, the redness to the bump was virtually gone.
Blemish Rx is available at mass merchandisers, drugstores, etc for $8.95. It comes in three concealer skin colors as well as soft green for those really red bumps. The green color neutralizes the red. This handy blemish fighter cover-up gets the seal of approval from a 13 year old and Mom!
Erase Paste Does it's Job and Then Some!
Sep 2, 2008 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search I have so many concealers that I assign to different parts of my face, at different times of the year, and for different occasions. I have learned to fit Benefit's Erase Paste into the rotation when I need to cover really dark undereye circles. This beauty makes them disappear while lightening and brightening up the whole area.

I am not sure where my little spatula disappeared to because I have got myself digging out the "paste" with the end of a concealer brush. I then flip the brush to spread it - even though it is easily spreadable with a finger.
Unlike a conventional, thinner concealer made to be lighter than your skin tone, Erase Paste is thicker to stay where you spread it. It is also pink based, making it appear more natural and a bit highlighter, thus diverting more attention away from the flaw. I am using medium right now, but will surely try it out in fair for the non-tanned months. There is also a deep shade available, for darker complexions.
A Double Feature Your Must Check Out!
Aug 8, 2008 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search Looking at this little beauty, I wasn't quite sure what to do with this multi use product. I was quick to find out though, when schlepping around New York City yesterday, that LORAC's Double Feature is the perfect portable concealing and highlighting tool.
Look at the three - yes, three - components in this one stick.

First, there is the concealing stick. The stick is totally creamy, full coverage, and easy to blend. No need to use your fingers though, especially when you are on the run.
Now, notice the little roller ball, which is the perfect little blending ball. This ball smooths the concealer out perfectly. Who would have thought? It totally puzzled me when I first opened it. I rolled it on my skin waiting for something to come out. Once I realized there was no powder or liquid in there and read the directions, all was clear.
On the other side of the concealing stick is a highlighter. This is a a bit pearly that will lighten and brighten. Not only can you use this under your eyes, but you can simply dab a bit on the top of your cheeks or right under your brow. It is a quick little perk-up.
Double Feature ($24) is one you definitely want to check out. It is available in three shades to make matching easy too. $24 is a steal for this.
Do I Look Like a Beauty Expert?
Jul 29, 2008 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search Do I look like a beauty expert? Do I have a sign on my back that says "Beauty Blogger"? Or could it be that I just look like I know what I am doing?
The funniest thing happened to me over the weekend at CVS. I was scanning the latest anti-aging products and searching for something with Hydroquinone (did they take this off the market? I cannot locate a fade cream with it in the drugstore price range) along with two other women. We hear a man getting obviously frustrated making a lot of noises n the next aisle over, which was the makeup aisle. He then nervously approached me to ask if I could help him find something. I almost asked him to go to the front to get help, but for some reason I think he knew I could help him - and I think I wanted too (yeah - a young cutie!).
This young man had cut himself shaving on his nose - didn't know you were supposed to shave your nose - and had a little red mark that he wanted to help heal and cover. He obviously had somewhere pretty important to go, or someone pretty special to see.I told him we needed to look for a concealer, and an inexpensive one as he would only need it for a few days. He thought that maybe he should get some kind of pencil, which I thought was odd, but he thought he could cover it and make it look like a freckle. I tried not to chuckle, this man wanted help. Real help. So, I again told him that a concealer is what he needed.
After looking through various types of concealer, I thought I should dig a little deeper to find one that might not irritate the cut, while covering it at the same time. My choice was Maybelline's Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer.

Not only did it look like this concealer would do the trick, I thought that the power of the minerals might help heal his tiny cut. At least the minerals could not hurt it.
He wanted to go with the lightest color, but I told him that if it were too light than it would definitely accent the cut and call attention to it. He said I was the expert (ha, ha) so I choose the shade called Cream, which looked to match his skin tone. I then told him to not just apply the makeup with the wand, but to dab a bit of it from the wand on the back of his hand to warm it up and then dot it on his nose with his finger. He repeated what I had stated and felt pretty confident.
Luckily, he didn't ask me to help him apply it. But I think he was confident enough and I hope it covered properly for him.
When I went back to the skin care aisle, both of the other women in the aisle stopped and had a bit of a chuckle with me. I then told them what I did for a living, and they both said that I should have told the man so he would feel extra confident, as he was getting help from someone in the know.Do you have funny beauty story to share? If you do, please share it in the comments. You never know when something that is really funny, that makes me laugh out loud, gets rewarded! Yes, a little beauty swag could be in order.
Must Have for Tired Eyes: Smashbox Photo Op.
Oct 25, 2007 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search Sometimes I need more than just concealer under my eyes, and sometimes for me means most of the time, unfortunately. I am fortunate, however, to have found my saving grace: Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener.
Photo Op is a creamy peach-tinted iridescent makeup that is applied with a brush. It really perks up the undereye area making it look lighter, brighter, and over-all fresh. Just a few dabs under the eye does the trick, and it even works well on the inside corners of the eyes.
Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener sells for $18 at Smashbox.com and Sephora. This is definitely a must-have for any of us early-risers.
