Fashion Week: Backstage at Marchesa with Stila Cosmetics.
Feb 9, 2008 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search Bold colors and floating dresses weren’t the only trends that walked the runway this season – fall beauty set its own stage with key looks and trends from Stila.
For four seasons, Marchesa has turned to stila cosmetics to complement their Hollywood-worthy designs with just the right makeup looks. Headlining makeup artist Talia Shobrook used lush, rich hues to complete the gilded splendor of the Marchesa collection.
Inspired by the iconography of the 16th Century, Marchesa’s fall collection evokes the excess and elegance of the Golden Age. Drawing on the drama of the Spanish Armada, the designs embody the clash of lavish Spanish style and Elizabethan renaissance in an era marked by legendary monarchs. Shobrook captured the concept in a dramatic look that modernizes Elizabethan stylization, with dreamy, angelic complexions to reflect the soft, flowing quality of the collection.
An EXCLUSIVE "How To" from the artist:
Step one: skin
The look for skin is matte and pale. Begin by applying stila sheer pressed powder. Then, apply stila perfecting concealer to areas that require more coverage.
Step two: eyes
Neutral tones contour and accentuate a smoky eye framed with dramatic lashes and brows. Apply stila eye shadow in chinois to brow bones. Next, apply stila eye shadow shade in bouquet and kamet to the creases of your eyelids and your bottom lash line. Line the lower outer rim kajal liner in smoky quartz. Then sweep major lash mascara in brown over lashes and apply major lash in black to tips of lashes. Finally, fill in brows with brow set.
Step three: cheeks
Cheeks are natural but flushed for high contrast with pale skin. Use new cherry crush lip and cheek stain to create a bright flush against pale skin. Apply to fingertips to the high apples of the cheeks, blending out until the color diffuses into a soft stain.
Step four: lips
Lip color is shiny and saturated against matte skin and eyes. Apply cherry crush lip and cheek stain directly to lips for rosy color with a slick sheen. Next, dab SPF 20 lipstick in c aicos over cherry crush with fingertips to finish the look.
Gorgeous and totally wearable!
Fashion Week Bobbi Brown for The Heart Truth.

Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search
For the third year, Bobbi Brown and her team sponsored The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Show at Fashion Week. I was there last Friday and it was a joy to watch the lovely ladies strut their stuff down the runway.
Heidi Klum, Molly Sims, Lisa Rinna, Liza Minelli, Rita Moreno and more celebs wore red dresses to kick off thie years campaign. And what an honor it was to see the First Lady, Laura Bush, give the opening speech.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the Heart Truth Show for a third year in a row. It's important to educate and empower women with the knowledge they need to make smart lifestyle choices and Heart Truth does a great job of getting the word out," says Brown.
We can support the Heart Truth and raise awareness about heart disease while being a part of it all. Bobbi has created a Limited Edition Lip Palette.
This Lip Palette contains the following: Mauve Lip Shimmer, Kir Lip Shimmer, Cranberry Lip Sheer and Slopes Lip Color-and a mini Lip Brush.
The Heart Truth Lip Palette is available on her website, BobbiBrown.com throughout the month of February. The palette sells for $40, with proceeds going to The Heart Truth.
Fashion Week When Bad Makeup Reigns on the Runway...
Feb 7, 2008 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search Oh my!
I understand that some makeup looks are meant to be more avant garde and totally not wearable by the average makeup consumer, but I still do not like to look at girls that look to be near death walking down the catwalk.
The Rodarte Fall 2008 show was a perfect example of what is not deemed wearable, at least on me or anyone I know. Dark, almost blood-black lips, totally nude cheeks, barely there brows, and red on the eyes. NO! I would have rather seen a totally nude or natural look on the models as to not clash with the designer clothing.

Fashion Week Backstage at Fashion Week: Herve Leger.
Feb 4, 2008 |
Teri, editor, Beautiful Makeup Search L'Oréal Professionnel Texture Expert and hair stylist Malcolm Edwards brought sophisticated and youthful, "sex-bomb" glamour to the runways at the Hervé Léger Fall 2008 Collection.
Edwards created a simple sillouette using the haute couture fashion inspired luxury styling line, L'Oréal Professionnel Texture Expert.
First, dry hair was prepped with Mousse Volupté and Densité to provide a great styling base and add volume. Next, each model's hair was blown out and the entire back section of the hair was saturated with Infinium #2 (regular hold working spray) hairspray to give a strong but workable foundation. Each section of the hair was back-brushed to achieve exceptional texture and then flat-ironed to set the texture. Infinium #4 (extreme hold finishing spray) hairspray was then sprayed on the top/front of the head and the top brushed flat and tight against the head, with a slightly off-centered part.
The final look reflected the theme of the Hérve Léger Collection - powerful, modern feminity.
