Makeup Wars: My Favorite Cream Shadow.

After missing a few of the most recent Makeup Wars challenges, I am glad to be back and participating in this one. That's because we are talking about a favorite product again; this time our favorite cream eye shadows.

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with cream eye shadows. I have tried a lot of them from many different brands. Every so often, I get this weird reaction where my eyes get puffy when wearing them. After starting to get the same reaction from gel liners, in which they were all dark colors, I sort of have it figured out. I don't have an allergic reaction to the product itself, I have a reaction to certain pigments. I think. I still have to question this because I have never had a reaction to any of the cream shadows I have used from MAC.

Now, MAC has a few different cream based shadows: Paint Pot, Cream Colour Base, Pro Longwear Paint Pot, Metal-X Cream Shadow and Paints (which was my very first cream shadow ever). Out of all of those, my favorite, which I am officially declaring my favorite cream shadow is...

I really like the rich, creamy formula of the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot. It is easy to work with and blend with other shades to get the eye look I want. The cream dries down to a beautiful pearly glow. It never fades, or creases and lasts beautifully on my eyes all day. To apply, I use the MAC 242 shader brush. I gently brush the color over my eye, and then blend them all out with an airbrush concealer brush.

The Pro Longwear Paint Pots that I have pictured are from the brand new MAC Breaking Beauties collection. They are so pretty and I have been using them all together for a soft, spring eye.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot: Eclair, Fancy Frosting, Let's Skate!

I use Let's Skate! (the pale pink with shimmer) all over my eye, and then add Fancy Frosting (the frosted white) to the inner corners of my eye and finish my lid with Eclair (the light golden brown). They sell for $18.50 each.

I can't wait to see what the rest of my blogger friends have chosen as their favorite cream shadows. Click though all the logos below to see them all.

Hong Kong de CHANEL Collection.

In January, CHANEL opened at Hysan Place, the new luxury temple located at the center of Hong Kong. It is in fact, the largest CHANEL boutique in Hong Kong. To celebrate the event, CHANEL created an exclusive Hong Kong de CHANEL Collection in which a universal gold shade unites the extremes of deep brown and brilliant white. It is definitely a vision of east meets west.

The collection includes a beautiful eyeshadow palette and two nail colours.

Pearl River Eyeshadow Palette - $80.00
The elegant rectangular case reveals an original combination of five shadows embossed with the iconic quilted motif of CHANEL. Like the shimmering light on water, the Pearl River palette offers a harmony of golden white, a vintage gold nuance and intense peach for a soft, radiant effect on eyelids. Looks can be natural or sophisticated, depending on how you choose to wear them. Either way, the look will be illuminating and eye opening.

Nail Colour - $30.00
Two contrasting nail colours echo the extremes of the eye palette. Elegant and modern Eastern Lights is a luminous, very opaque white enamel. Western Light is a deep and intense chocolate brown glowing with a pearly red heart.

Pearl River is a gorgeous palette that I am saving for summer. With the brown, gold and bronze shades it will be perfect with a golden glow, don't you think?
The Hong Kong de CHANEL Collection is available now, for a limited time, exclusively in boutiques and online at

Anti-Aging Skin Care for Sensitive Skin from Olay.

It's pretty well known that Olay makes some pretty great anti-aging products. But what if you are one of those people that is very sensitive to anti-aging ingredients? They have finally addressed your concerns and have made an Age Defying Sensitive Skin Day Lotion and Age Defying Sensitive Skin Night Cream.

I'll admit, I try a lot of anti-aging products. I have somewhat sensitive skin as it gets red very easily, but I can tolerate just about anything else. I was surprised when I could not tolerate some of the Pro-X products. I remember getting very red, overly dry and even more sensitive than normal when trying the Pro-X Serum and Pro-X Deep Wrinkle Treatment. I sort of gave up hope on the line and haven't used much from Olay in a long time. In dire need of a day cream and seeing the Age Defying Sensitive Skin Day Lotion on my shelf waiting to be tested, I was hesitant. Did I want to go there again? But it is made for Sensitive Skin, I thought, so I decided to give it a try - but on my hands first. After just a few days of testing and looking at how much better my hands were looking and feeling, I decided to go for it and use both the Age Defying Sensitive Skin Day Lotion and the Age Defying Sensitive Skin Night Cream to the test - on my face.

I am so happy that I finally tried the products. The Day Lotion is an all-in-one formula that combines a great anti-aging moisturizer with broad-spectrum SPF 15 sunscreen to protect the skin. It helps to diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles as it provides all day moisture and makes my skin feel silky soft. It did nothing to aggravate my skin; only beautify it. The Night Cream is equally nice. It is richer, but sinks into skin fast as it keeps my skin hydrated all night long.

Olay Age Defying Sensitive Skin Day Lotion with SPF 15 sells for $12.99 and the Olay Age Defying Sensitive Skin Night Cream sells for $14.99. Pick them up at you favorite drugstore or mass retailer.

Spring 2013: Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection.

After a little bit of an unplanned spring break, I am back and spring makeup is definitely on my mind. This new Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection is everything that spring makeup is supposed to be: fresh, beautiful and gorgeous on everyone. Bobbi’s taken this season’s prettiest trend and added her own modern and super fresh twist.

Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection

"With hints of heather grey, this collection is a modern take on spring florals." --Bobbi Brown.

I have to admit that when I fist heard the name lilac, I had visions of the products being overly purple, which is a color I just cannot wear well. I was so wrong. The lilac is a soft version of lavender and the closest to purple product here is the Lilac Sparkle Eye Shadow and I adore it. It is beautiful on the eye lid with a gray or black liner. I actually like to use it on the inner corner of the eye and right under the arch of my brow, where I would normally use a highlighting pink shade. The lilac is definitely a fresher, and updated look. It really makes me look awake and ready to take on spring.
