MAC Metallics for Fall.

How to Wear Gold Eyeshadow

I love metallic shades in the fall. Looking through my recent stash of fall products, I noticed that many of the beauties from the MAC Indulge Collection were metallic, in various shades of brown. I have found myself turning to these almost daily to create beautiful looks on my eyes, lips and nails.

My favorite MAC metallics for fall include:

Metallic Makeup for Fall from MAC.

Eyes

Deliciously Rich Fluidline - This is a beautiful shimmery eyeliner in a medium taupe color. The shimmer is gold and the overall look is gorgeous. I have been applying the liner with the MAC Flat Definer Brush 212 to smudge it right at my lash line. I really like to smudge this out and think it would look great smudged a bit on the lid as a shadow. I just don't think the formula is right for that.

Gilt Morsel Eye Shadow - In a lustre formula, this silky formula is a bit glittery in a light gold. This is perfect to highlight on the brow bone, right in the center of a darker eye look to open up the eye, or dabbed into the inner corner to draw attention there as well.

Divine Decadence - This veluxe eyeshadow in a beautiful bronze is great for all over the lid. It reminds me of an old penny, as in a dirty copper. It makes my eyes that can easily look blue/green, to hazel, to green depending on what I wear, look a gorgeous shade of green.

Lips

Smash Hit Dazzle Lipstick - This super sparkly lipstick goes on sheer with an opalescent gold sparkle. Wear it on its own for a sparkle nude look, or over a deeper shade to add a bit of softness and dimension to the lip with the sparkle.

MAC Cosmetics Dazzle Lipstick in Smash Hit

By Design Frost Lipstick - This soft, shimmery beige lipstick is a great nude for fall. The frost is not overly heavy and it look great on its own or layered under a gloss, like the one below.

Ultimate Dish Lipglass - This almost see through nude glossy with subtle pearl is gorgeous over darker shades to lighten them up. I am especially loving it over By Design for the ultimate nude lip with a bit of sparkle.

Nails

Magnificent Feast Nail Lacquer - This heavily glittered pure gold frosted nail polish makes for an easy gold accent nail. I like using it on my ring fingers only to accent a bold fall manicure.

All of these fall metallics from the MAC Indulge Collection are available now at all MAC locations and online at maccosmetics.com.

NEW from Benefit: Rockateur Box o' Powder.

Benefit Cosmetics just expanded its' Box o' Powder line with this new Rockateur Cheek Powder. Well, they are calling it "Famously Provocative Cheek Powder" and I sort of like that name, don't you?

Rockateur is a silky powder blush that is like a blush/highlighter in one product. It is a pretty brown based pink shade with a very satiny, subtly gold finish. It is like rose gold! On first swipe, I could barely tell where it was applied, but with a few strokes of the brush, the pigment really came through.

NEW from Benefit: Rockateur Box o' Powder

The formula is unique. It is actually a combination of powder, baked, cream and fluid textures that makes it have such a strong color payoff. It feels and applies like a baked powder. I think that may be why I like it as a highlighter so much. While I am wary of many highlighters because of their ability to highlight lines and pores, Rockateur does not. It highlights in a way that it softens. It really is beautiful.

Benefit Rockateur Box o' Powder

I have to mention that this is one product in which I really like the brush too. The stocky brush is full of natural feeling hairs that make it easy to sweep the powder onto the apples of cheeks and then blend up the cheekbone.

Benefit Rockateur Box o' Powder is available now at Benefit Cosmetics and Sephora for $28.00.

Getting Healthy with Nutrisystem: Week 7.

Did you ever notice that every celebration or social gathering seems to revolve around food? And very rarely is any of this food healthy. I had a week full of dinners out, celebrations, dinner with friends, a luncheon, bridal shower and cook outs. The unhealthy food was flowing. Planning and make the right choices had to be done. It wasn't easy though, I will tell you that.

Remember you have a choice...

For most functions, I made an effort to plan ahead. I would eat a Nutrisystem bar that is full of protein and very filling. I would also make sure to have filled up on water. I figured if I were full, I would pass up on any hors d'oeuvres or stick my hand in the bread basket. I chose to hang out by the veggie platter a few times and would order salad or carefully chose food from the "light" menu. It was harder at the two buffet style parties I went to, but I basically ate light and chose what I thought were the healthiest options. It is the only way I could stay on track. It was not easy, especially passing on the yummy desserts. The funny thing is, I am of the mind set now that I am not being deprived. I am making the choice to be healthier, and my reward is in that. Not to mention that watching the numbers on the scale go down is a great reward too.

This week, I did see my number on the scale go down again - woo! I lost another 1.5 pounds this week, making my total weight loss 13.5 pounds so far. Planning and making the right choices paid off. As of now, I only have two functions coming up next week and I will stick to my plan for dealing with these challenges.
