Winter Beauty Favorites & Tips from COVERGIRL Figure Skater Gracie Gold.

I can't wait for the 2014 Winter Olympics that begin in just one month on February 6th. I will be watching the games and be cheering along the US athletes. One of my favorite sports to watch at the Olympics has been figure skating and have been a follower of the figure skaters for years. Imagine my excitement when I heard that figure skater (and Massachusetts native) Gracie Gold was the latest COVERGIRL! I recently got to ask Gracie a few questions.

Winter Beauty Favorites & Tips from COVERGIRL Figure Skater Gracie Gold.

Teri: What does it mean to you to be a COVERGIRL?

Gracie Gold: "It’s a dream come true to work with a company that stands for inner and outer beauty for all women."

Teri: Spending so much time in the cold on the ice must take a toll on your skin. Do you have any beauty products or secrets to share that help you cope?

Gracie Gold: "I moisturize with the Olay Complete All Day oil free moisturizer three times a day: in the morning, after skating and before I got to bed. For when I’m extra dry, I use a hydrocortisone cream on my cuticles, around my nose and around my ankles and feet.  When my lips are really chapped, I use a lip balm."

Teri: What is your favorite COVERGIRL makeup product?

Gracie Gold: "The entire Lip Perfection line.  I like Hot, Seduce, and Spellbound."

Teri: Are there any special makeup products or colors you like to use when you compete?

Gracie Gold: "With the white ice and white lights, it’s easy to get washed out, so a good foundation, strong eyes and a bold lip are really important.  For lips, I use Lip Perfection.  I mix Hot and Burn for a dark red. For my eyes, I use COVERGIRL Bombshell for both volume and an intense black lash look."

Teri: What are you most excited to see in Russia?

Gracie Gold: "The Olympic Village and meeting the other athletes."

Teri: Is there anything you are doing special to prepare for the winter games, beside practice, obviously. Do you do anything special beauty-wise?

Gracie Gold: "Trying to master all of the make-up tips so my makeup looks flawless for my performance.  Sometimes at practice, we do competition simulations to get in the mindset."

I love that Gracie is conscious to use a moisturizer three times a day to keep her skin in check and hydrated. I can only imagine what being in the cold so much does to her skin. She is super smart to pay extra attention to her cuticles too. I never though of using hydrocortisone cream on cuticles; I'll be trying that. It's also great to hear that Gracie mixes two lipsticks (Lip Perfection Hot and Burn) to get the dark red lip color she likes. Many people never think to mix or layer products and colors and I love it when I hear people doing that.

Here are a few more pictures of Gracie taken behind the scenes of her COVERGIRL photoshoot.

Thank you to Gracie for taking the time to answer my questions. I'll be watching and cheering her on this weekend at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and then at the Olympics. Go COVERGIRL Gracie!
