Skin as an Accessory at Fashion Week.

You cannot begin to model without beautiful skin, right? This season at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, skin was in (isn't it always?), and designers who wanted the ultimate in beautiful looking skin turned to Clarisonic.

Both the Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System and the Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System were used on the models by celebrity aesthetician Eileen Harcourt to prep their skin for the VPL showing on September 12th  and at Chris Benz on September 13th.

A thorough cleansing is the first step in any skincare routine, and Eileen says she wouldn’t even recommend applying moisturizer to the face unless it had a sonic cleansing first. Models that were “in the know” came early to both the VPL and Chris Benz shows to experience a rare chance to relax.

Eileen used the Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System to remove any makeup the models had on prior to the show (it cleans makeup 6x better than manual cleansing) as well as to fully cleanse the facial palette. Applying makeup is easier and looks better after using the Clarisonic Mia because the foundation is much cleaner than normal.  Models were able to achieve each show’s signature look with fresh skin before makeup application.

She then used the Opal around the eyes to provide a quick “wake up call,” since it tightens the skin with the same sonic technology as in the Mia. It was also used around the lips to tighten and brighten as well.   The Opal Sonic Infusion System is ideal because it’s compact and offers a “clean application” of serum.

You know I am a believer in the Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System, which sells for $149, and I highly recommend it to everyone. It will make such a difference (for the better) in your skin and will last for years. I have not had the chance to try the Opal Sonic Infusion System yet, but just knowing that it comes from Clarisonic makes me not think too hard about dropping that much money (it sells for $245) on another "beauty tool".

Both of these Clarisonic beauties are available at Sephora and sephora.com or at clarisonic.com.

Clinique's Moisture Surge Products for Extended Relief.

My skin is always thirsty for moisture, especially as the day goes on. With the recent launch of Bobbi Browns' Hydrating Skincare and now Moisture Surge Extended Relief from Clinique, brands are realizing this is a major concern.

There are two products from Clinique that help keep skin hydrated as the day goes on. Start with Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturizer and then mist Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief over skin throughout the day when it feels dry to infuse more relief.

Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief allows skin to adapt and adjust to varying changes of moisture throughout the day. As it is first applied, Skin experiences a new level of hydration and this moisture continues on throughout the day or night. What is more unique is that this is a very lightweight gel that actually improves skin’s natural moisture retention ability for longer lasting hydration. What you normally would expect from a more rich face cream, you get from the gel-cream hybrid. I love how it contains the technology to address the cause and effects of skin dehydration, as this gets deeper into the skins layers to provide a quick and faster release of prolonged moisturization. This comes in two jar sizes - 1.7 oz for $34.00 and a 2.5 oz size which sells for $46.50.

Moisture Surge Face Spray is an ingenious way to quickly and easily treat and replenish thirsty skin through the day. The spray immediately helps to restore skin’s balance while boosting firmness with its unique bio-activated hydrating complex. The mist absorbs quickly, leaving behind skin that is soft and smooth to the touch.   The water is aloe-activated, which almost cools it while making it more comfortable. This face spray is the perfect size to toss in your handbag, and costs $20.00 for the full size.

Clinique Moisture Surge products are available at Clinique counters and online at Clinique.com.
