New Year, New You: Revitalize from the Inside Out.

I don't just have some new year resolutions, I am making some life changes this year. I have to. Besides heading to the gym more, I plan to revitalize from the inside out. I am going to be taking care of myself better.

I plan to change the way I eat for the better. I am going to incorporate more nutritious rich foods into my diet. I am cutting out sweets - plain and simple. I certainly had my fill of them over the holidays. I am tired of the sugar crash and just need to avoid them all together. Along with exercise, that should take care of my body ((I hope)).

Another important thing I am doing is concentrating on my skin more. I am going to drink my eight full glasses of water a day. It just makes me look and feel better when I do. I just get too busy and forget to keep drinking, but I am going to make it a point to hydrate! I am also taking Imedeen Time Perfection® twice a day to help my skin in ways that skin care can't. I introduced you to this anti-aging supplement last month.  It has become an important part of my anti-aging routine and totally fits with my revitalize from the inside out plan.

Skin care products can not get deep enough into the layers of the skin to actually change it.  The top layer is called the epidermis and this is where skincare creams work. The dermis, the layer beneath the surface, contains all the skin’s building blocks – collagen, elastin and essential moisture retaining elements. It’s here in the dermal layer that Imedeen® works throughout the entire body to strengthen and improve the skin’s invisible building blocks. It does this with targeted nutrients that help skin retain moisture and suppleness.

The proprietary blend of ingredients in the Imedeen Time Perfection® marine complex provides elements important for skin’s structure and moisture, similar to those naturally found in the skin.

  • LycoPhence GS® is a skin defense system providing tomato fruit and grape seed extracts, which both contribute to the protection against oxidative damage to the skin.
  • Vitamin C is an important antioxidant and essential in the formation of collagen, which is a primary structural protein in the skin.

This post is part of a sponsored campaign hosted by the makers of Imedeen®. While all opinions stated are my own, I make no claims about Imedeen® as a product or its effectiveness. I received compensation and a 90-day supply of Imedeen Time Perfection®  for this post.

M·A·C Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is Here for Good.

Sometime in 2008, I became obsessed with this giant black tub of black gooey goodness from M·A·C, the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator. I lathered on this thick, black pasty scrub and fell for it, in a big way. As my skin was left so pure and clean, refreshed and generally feeling amazing after using it, it quickly became a part of my regular routine. Until, that is, it was gone.

M·A·C Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator has come and gone a few times in different collection and it always sold out. Luckily, it is back again, and it is back for good. M·A·C Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is now a part of M·A·C’s permanent skincare line.

Th official word:

M·A·C Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is newest addition to M·A·C’s permanent skincare line. A unique mineralized foaming scrub containing natural volcanic ash and fine sugar crystals to exfoliate. Utilizes ultra-fine particles that intensely and deeply cleanse the pores. Suitable for all skin types, the exfoliator acts as a moisturizer while also absorbing excess oil from the skin. Improves the application of makeup and keeps skin smooth and texture even.

M·A·C Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is available for $28.00 at all locations and online at maccosmetics.com.

Holiday 2012: Holiday Skincare Survival Guide.

The holidays are not just bad for the diet (hello Christmas cookies and endless parties), but the season is stressful on your skin too. There are so many hidden triggers that can aggravate skin sensitivities. I'm talking stress, cold temperatures and traveling.

Simple® skincare dermatologist Dr. Jennifer Segal gave me some info on the season's top sensitive skin triggers. Of course she depends on Simple skincare products to correct the sensitivities, so that we can have healthy looking skin well into the new year.

Cold Temperatures
Exposure to cold weather and whipping winds can throw off skin's moistures balance, resulting in chapped, scaling skin.

Dr. Segal says, "Irritated winter skin does not mean abandoning a regular routine. To bring back a healthy glow, seek products that are formulated to gently cleanser and nourish skin. Use a 100% soap-free cleanser like Simple® Moisturizing Facial Wash. It is perfect even for sensitive skin because like all Simple® products, it is free of harsh irritants, dyes or artificial perfumes."

Stress
Somewhere between marathon shopping sprees, gearing up for guests and staying out late, stress starts to take over.

Dr. Segal says, "To quickly fix under eye circles, I recommend the Simple® Revitalizing Eye Roll-On. Skin irregularities strike when defenses are down. The secret weapon wakes up tired eyes by instantly cooling and gently massaging the eye area to remove puffiness."

Travel
Whether flying first class or coach this season, one thing is always the same - dry recirculated cabin air can deplete skin's natural moisture.

Dr. Segal says, " To make the most of a bade beauty situation and ward off dull, dehydrated skin, get ahead of the game by liberally applying an intense moisturizer before flying and again after landing. Simple® Replenishing Rich Moisturizer keeps skin moisturized for 12 hours and contains skin loving ingredients like glycerin to replenish lost hydration."

Simple® skin care product are available at mass retailers and select drugstores nationwide. For more information an product details, visit simpleskincare.com.
