Get the Look: Rachel McAdams at the 2016 Golden Globes.

I love a half up/down hair look and Rachel McAdams wore one so gracefully at the 2016 Golden Globes. Her look was created by Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend.

Mark said, "Rachel McAdams is such an inspiration to work with and always has the greatest ideas. She just arrived late last night from London, so we laughed that she was flush like an English Rose! We wanted to find a very modern way to interpret such a classic look so we decided on a very textured chignon with lots of volume"

Get the look:

1.       I started by applying Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum in Oil into Rachel's damp hair to nourish and seal the cuticle, then sprayed Sally Hershberger's Root Envy throughout her roots.

2.       Then, I blew her hair out with a round Spornette mixed bristle brush round brush. Once the hair was fully dry, I used my trusty R Sessions Double Barrel Iron to create a wavy bendy feel.

3.       I then went through section by section and sprayed her locks with Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo for volume and texture.

4.       Finally, I went in with my YS Park gold bobby and hair pins and creating a lived in and sexy chignon, thanks to a bit of teasing at the crown and healthy spray of  Dove Style + Care Strength and Shine Extra Hold Hairspray.

Get the Look: Katy Perry at the Super Bowl XLIX.

Katy Perry ROCKED the half time show at the Super Bowl XLIX. She brought down the house. Of course, I was all about her look and could not wait to find out what COVERGIRL makeup she was rocking.

Celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey did Katy's makeup for the big event and gave me the details.

"Today is one of the most exciting days of my career! Knowing my work would be seen by millions and millions of people I've been understandably nervous. Katy's performance had multiple costume changes so I needed to create a strong look that would complement all of her outfits, as there was absolutely no time for a touch up in between the quick changes. It’s the Super Bowl after all!

I decided to go with a classic Katy look -- elongated cat eyes, lots of mascara, super sparkly gold and silver glitter, and a bold red lip for glamour and showmanship. I wanted her to glow and sparkle for her big moment in just nine steps!

1.       To create a sheer and flawless canvas I began by buffing a dime size amount of COVERGIRL Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation in Natural Beige all over her face and neck.

2.       For an elongated cat eye I used COVERGIRL Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Black Onyx and painted a glitter adhesive just above the black liner and carefully placed a mix of gold and silver glitter on the adhesive with a tiny eyeliner brush for precision.

3.       Then I applied COVERGIRL Eye Shadow Quads in Blooming Blushes to add warmth and dimension. I love this palette because it takes the guesswork out of getting gorgeous eyes, it has number for the shades – 1,2,3,4 – so I know just how to apply! I used the fourth shade to define the crease and the first shade to highlight the lids.

4.       I finished the eye look with an aggressive lash curling and two coats of new COVERGIRL Full Lash Bloom by LashBlast Mascara in Very Black that left her lashes voluminous and touchably soft throughout her performance! No time for flakes during this performance.

5.       To give her brows shape and structure, I added COVERGIRL Pow-der Brow + Liner in Dark Brown.

6.       For extra dimension, I warmed her cheeks using COVERGIRL Clean Glow Blush in Roses using the lighter shades on the apples of her cheeks and the darker shade in the hollows of her cheeks

7.       Then I added COVERGIRL truMAGIC Luminizer to her cheekbones and brow bones for a shimmery glow.

8.       Moving on to the lips, I lined and shaped her lips using COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Lip Liner in Hot. I then applied a coat of new COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick in Seduce Scarlet - truly a classic red, for a classic Katy look.

9.       I topped it off with a tiny dollop of COVERGIRL Lip Lava in Mauva Lava for a fun and bold lip look!

There you have it! A look appropriate for the biggest game of the year!"

I also have the details on her super high pony, courtesy of KMS California.

Celebrity stylist, Clyde Haygood, said the inspiration for the look was that “Katy specifically asked for the perkiest pony you’ve ever seen!” Clyde created the pony with extra bounce so it went with the choreography and allowed Katy to helicopter it around while performing with Lenny Kravitz.

The ponytail was constructed using a human hair Velcro pony with hair in various lengths sewn onto the inside and outside for added volume. With the added weight, in ordered to create a comfortable support system, Clyde sewed an elastic band to the base on the inside of the pony and put a toggle closure to make the ponytail retractable and actually open and close around Katy’s own hair.

To set the ponytail, first Clyde took five 3-inch sections and curled them with a 2-inch iron to create an “S” wave. Each section was sprayed with KMS California FREESHAPE 2-in-1 styling + finishing spray ($20.99) before curling. Clyde used this spray because it’s heat activated and perfect to use with irons for setting dry hair. It also brushed out beautifully giving him the bounce he wanted for the performance.‬

‪Next, Clyde worked on slicking Katy’s own hair back with his “go-to” gel product, KMS California HAIRSTAY styling gel ($16.50). This gel has impeccable hold and gave Clyde the glass-like shine he wanted for Katy’s hair.

‪Once the ponytail was attached Clyde took a small amount of KMS California HAIRPLAY gel wax ($19.75) into the palm of his hands then top-coated Katy's pony to tame any flyaways and give added support to the style. Clyde likes this product because it has the hold of a gel, yet has flexibility and lets hair move naturally. ‬

Get the Look: Reese Witherspoon at the 2015 Golden Globes.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Molly Stern created a beautiful makeup look for Reese Witherspoon for last nights 2015 Golden Globe Awards. Stern was inspired by Witherspoon's work as both an actress and a producer in "Wild," and she created a makeup look for the nominee that "shined brilliantly like the prize she is."  Stern created a "statuesque and golden" look for Witherspoon, who wore a silver gown by Calvin Klein Collection. She used products from Laura Mercier.

FACE:  Clean and photo-ready skin
·        Stern first applied Caudalie Eau De Beaute Elixer, ($49) to invigorate Witherspoon’s skin.
·        Next, she massaged RéVive Serum Pressé Illuminating Skin Firmer, ($310) to give her complexion a natural, luminous and smooth base. She lightly applied RèVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream Retexturizing Hydrator, ($195) for added hydration.
·        Stern then applied NEW Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation in Cream Ivory, ($48, April 2015) to ensure Witherspoon’s complexion looked “clean and bright.”
·        Using Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Abundance, ($56), Stern lightly contoured Witherspoon’s cheeks to accentuate the colour.
·        She then added an intense flush to the apples of Witherspoon’s cheeks, giving her the look of “vibrant heat,” by applying Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Blaze, ($25) topped with Kevyn Aucoin The Pure Powder Glow in Fira - Mango, ($37).
EYES:  Golden wash of colour

·        Stern’s inspiration for Witherspoon’s eye look was a “golden wash of colour” on the lids, with a smoky look underneath the lash line. Her goal was for the actress’ eyes to look defined and sultry.
·        She first created a base using Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Black Karat, ($24). She then smudged Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Gilded Gold, ($28) on Witherspoon’s upper lids, “creating a brilliant sheen to compliment her sterling silver gown.”
·        Then, she roughly lined the upper and lower lash lines using Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Noir, ($24).
·        Lastly, Stern curled Witherspoon’s lashes with the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, ($29), and coated her lashes twice using Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Supreme Mascara, ($25).
LIPS: Wine-stained lips
·        To complete the look, Stern created wine-stained lips by applying Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Merlot, $27 topped off with a gold gloss for a luminous sheen.
·        After that, Witherspoon “left for the red carpet glistening!”

For her glam and modern side-swept do, Adir Abergel used hair care from John Frieda.

GET THE LOOK: Inspired by the Wild star’s glistening sequin dress, celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel gave Reese Witherspoon subtle, chic waves with a clean side part for the 72nd Annual Golden Globes tonight. “Simplicity, modernity, and effortless texture were my key elements to creating this style,” said Adir.

Here is his step-by-step breakdown:
Adir started by creating a severe side part and then applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz-Immunity Primer to towel-dried hair to serve as the perfect styling base.
To continue building the perfect foundation for this style, Adir spritzed John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray from roots to mid-shaft and then just concentrated on roots with John Frieda Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion.
Next, he rough dried hair until it was nearly dry which helped bring out the natural texture and increase volume. Then, using a medium-sized boar bristle brush, Adir blow-dried the top front section in a sweeping direction to create a beautiful sweep of hair, which can also help to hide shorter bangs underneath.
After blow-drying the rest of hair smooth, Adir used a 1 ¼” curling iron to wave hair from mid-shaft to ends, leaving the ends more undone.
To finish the look, Adir pulled hair over to one side and secured it with a few bobby pins, making sure the opposite side of cascading hair was pulled tight. He then locked in the style by misting Frizz EaseKERAFLEX Flexible Hold Hairspray for a flawless finish.
