Kiehl's Summer Sun Protection & Book Exchange.

This summer, Kiehl’s Since 1851 helps its customers stock up on more than just sun care— they are going to keep them stocked in summer beach reads! What a great idea.

From June 24 through Labor Day, customers can visit their nearest Kiehl’s freestanding store, drop off a well-read favorite and pick up a new title. Also, customers who purchase a Kiehl’s sun preparation will also receive a Limited Edition “Safer Fun in the Sun” bookmark, to further remind them of the importance of sun protection.

At Kiehl’s, they hold firm in the knowledge that the regular use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen is a vital aspect of any daily skin care regimen and the key to healthy, protected skin. Kiehl's strongly recommend the consistent use of sun screens for the face, eye area and body on a daily basis throughout the year, even on cloudy, seemingly “sunless” days. Because summer days are the longest of the year, and there’s greater interest on outdoor activities, it’s even more important that the face and body be fully protected.

My skin is so picky with sun screens, so I usually stick to what I know does not cause me to break into the hives. As I have found that Mexoryl SX work well for me with no adverse reactions, I look forward to trying out the face and body formulas.

Shu Uemura 25th Boutique Birthday.

Late to the game as always, I never tried anything from Shu Uemura until late last year. I cannot fathom how I have not lived with some of his beauties, especially because he opened his first boutique back in 1983. Yes, 25 years ago.

In those 25 years, each year Shu Uemura has created a limited edition Boutique Birthday collection. This years collection, which is also the 2008 Summer collection, is absolutely 100% gorgeous - in true Shu tradition. The core values of nature, science and art come to life in this collection. Three 100% natural origin fragrances that are formulated with Despea Water, as well as some beautiful makeup products that are packaged in the designs of Tokyo-based artist Gwenael Nicolas are the highlights.

Look at these gorgeous eyeshadow palettes! $65 each, they are a bit on the expensive side, but just looking at the collectible palettes and the gorgeous shadows they contain make me want them nonetheless. My pick is the Fleur de Source palette with it's bevy of blue shades.

Clinique's Air-Kissed Colours.

This collection from Clinique is truly what Summer is all about. Fresh. Floral. Light. Pink. This is the Air-Kissed Colour Collection.

The stand out of this collection is the brand new, limited edition Colour Surge Eye Shadow Trio. In Kiss of Pinks, eyes are awash in soft radiance and glow in the prettiest of pink shades. 

Also in the collection is the gorgeous Fresh Bloom Allover Colour this one in Peony, and two new Long Last Glosswear Lip Gloss in Whisper and Air Kiss (need to pick this one up- stat).

Clinique provided some great tips on how to wear this soft Air-Kissed look. Start with a  dusting of Fresh Bloom Allover Colour in Peony on apples of cheeks, forehead and temples for sun-kissed shimmer. Using the Eye Shadow Trio for day, brush the lightest shade from the lashline to the brow, and define your lashline with darkest color. For night, add drama with the medium shade on lid, then deepen lashline and the crease with the darkest shade. And as a final touch for both day or night, use the NEW Lash Power Mascara Long Wearing Formula in Black Onyx. On lips, the sheer glimmer of NEW Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Air Kiss is the perfect daytime look. At night, turn up the intensity by lining and filling in lips with Quickliner for Lips in Baby Buff, then smoothe on the gloss over that for lasting shine.
