Earlier this week, my favorite mass beauty brand COVERGIRL made a HUGE announcement: they are officially Leaping Bunny Certified!
In case you don’t know what that means, Leaping Bunny Certified means that a brand or product is officially cruelty free. YES!!! It is truly the gold standard for cruelty free designation.
No other certification program has the rigor that seeks to completely eliminate animal testing from a brand’s supply chain and Cruelty Free International certifies that no COVERGIRL products or ingredients are tested on animals, either by COVERGIRL or its suppliers.
I have worked with COVERGIRL for years. I have had the privilege or visiting the COVERGIRL headquarters where I witnessed the products in the making. I was told how the products were cruelty free, but many potential customers did not believe it. For the brand to go forth and take the extra step in certification is huge.
As the biggest makeup brand to achieve the Leaping Bunny Certification, COVERGIRL is truly making history in the commitment to end unnecessary animal testing across the beauty industry. It is truly something that each and every beauty brand needs to make.
COVERGIRL told me that they truly believe that cruelty free cosmetics should be affordable and available to everyone – now it is. The more people who can find and afford cruelty free makeup, the better.
I wanted to celebrate by sharing a few of my favorite COVERGIRL products.
If you haven’t tried COVERGIRL for the fear that their products were not cruelty free, now is the time to head to your favorite drugstore or mass retailer and try some products. The following are my tried and true COVERGIRL favorites.
COVERGIRL Mascara - I don’t think I have used a COVERGIRL Mascara that I didn’t like. I currently wear lash extensions and only wear mascara on my lower lashes. Most days I wear COVERGIRL Clump Crusher or the newer The Super Sizer Big Curl Mascara on them. You can’t go wrong with either or any from the LashBlast lineup of mascaras.
COVERGIRL Exhibitionist Cream Lipstick - I really like the variety of COVERGIRL’s lipsticks. They recently did a rebrand of their lipsticks and renamed them from Colorlicious to Exhibitionist. With 48 shades to choose from, it is easy to find a shade for you. No matter which one you choose, you will LOVE the long-lasting, creamy feel and pure pigmentation. I am obsessed with a few shades, but my all-time favorite is Caramel Kiss.
COVERGIRL Trublend Matte Made Liquid Foundation - This long wearing liquid foundation looks like real skin, but better, if that makes sense. It is a natural matte formula that evens the skin tone, comes in a huge range of 40 shades and outperforms just about any other drugstore liquid foundation that I’ve tried to date.
COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Glow Highlighter - I use a few different shades of this incredibly creamy glow highlighter. It’s a shimmer glow highlighter that I dab on just where I want it.
COVERGIRL Exhibitionist Lip Liner - Something I learned when I was visiting the COVERGIRL facilities was that there are only a few different makeup pencil manufacturing facilities in the world. That means that if you pay $100, $10 or $1 for your makeup pencil, it is most likely being manufactured in the same facility. That is why I have learned to love mass pencil products; there is no need to overpay. I LOVE the Exhibitionist Lip Liner. It has a unique self-sharpening shape that makes application a cinch.
COVERGIRL Queen Collection Major Shade Matte Liquid Lipstick - This one is a full-on color matte liquid lipstick that feels uber creamy on the lips. I am obsessed with the shade Cake Walk and use it in my makeup looks often.
COVERGIRL Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick - This feels just like the Major Shade Matte Liquid Lipstick, it just comes in a broader range of shades. The colors are super rich and long lasting. Current Nude is my favorite color.
COVERGIRL TruNaked Eyeshadow Palettes - The TruNaked Eyeshadow Palettes offer an incredible bang for the buck. Each eyeshadow palette contains a range of eight shades that are not only universally flattering but they are all neutral and very easy to wear. The shadows are quite silky, yet very rich and highly pigmented. My picks are the Chocoholic, Peach Punch, Roses, and Nudes.
