Currently Obsessed: Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo.

I don't know about you, but my hair most often looks and styles better on its second and even third day after washing. I am not sure what it is; it looks great as soon as it is blown out and styled but there is something about re-styling it on the second and third day -- it just holds better. The problem? Oil and you know, that smell. The smell of oil built up on the scalp and product in the hair that leaves behind that tell tale sign that you haven't freshly washed. I depend on dry shampoo to extend time in between washings but dry shampoos are not created equal. I think I just found the holy grail of dry shampoo: the brand new Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo.

DIY: How to extend your blowout and have a great hair day with a dry shampoo like Moroccanoil NEW Dry Shampoo. It makes updos easy!

The brand behind the famous Moroccanoil Treatment, which I use after washing for smooth and shiny hair, has finally launched a Dry Shampoo. It was so worth the wait - it's incredible! Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo instantly absorbs oil and product build up without leaving behind any visible residue. It contains natural volumizing and deodorizing agents so hair is revived of volume and is left smelling fresh and clean with a hint of the signature Moroccanoil scent. It truly makes hair look blow-out fresh and clean. As a bonus, Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo protects against UV damage as it contains a UV filter.

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo

Moroccanoil was super smart in designing their Dry Shampoo as they made two color specific formulas: one for light and blonde tones and one for dark tones.

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Light Tones
This dry shampoo features subtle violet undertones to help balance brassiness, though it is virtually undetectable. I have light golden blonde hair and this is the formula I have been using. Many dry shampoos leave a white residue that has me looking gray at the roots and Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Light Tones does not. This dry shampoo blends in with my hair and brushes through to deliver extra volume while leaving my hair super clean and fresh. I love it and won't use any other now that I've tried it.

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones
This dry shampoo is made with ultra-fine rice starches that break down and dissipate immediately upon application. My daughter Caci has very dark brown hair so she has been testing this one. She gets very oily at the roots during the day (even on a day of washing) and needs to refresh often. She usually has a hard time with dry shampoo as many leave her hair looking dull, but not with Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones - she loves it. This dry shampoo absorbs all of the oil from her hair and does not leave any type of dull residue in her hair at all.

How to use Dry Shampoo

  • I spray dry shampoo about 6" away from my hair and apply it only at the roots and beneath my hair. I lift it up and apply in 2-3" sections.
  • I massage the dry shampoo into my scalp using my fingertips to activate the formula, distribute the product evenly through my hair and absorb oil
  • I then take a brush and gently brush the product down and under through the ends of my hair, starting underneath my hair to work the product all throughout the hair
  • Style as normal

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo is available in two sizes: travel size for $10.50 and full size for $26.00. Purchase online at moroccanoil.com or at fine salons which can located here.
