L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss.

Matte lips continue to be one of the hottest trends so far this year. I am slowly embracing this trend. You can't argue that a great matte lippie offers beautiful long-lasting pigmentation. Brands are doing matte better than ever in new creamy formulations that are easier to wear and more gentle on the lips. L’Oréal Paris has just introduced such a formula that I am really liking in their new Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss, and it may just be my favorite matte yet.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss is a creamy liquid matte lip gloss which is sort of contradicting in name, but in finish it is not. This gloss provides a super smooth, beautiful velvet-matte finish to the lips in full-on gorgeous color — perfect for spring!

What I think I have really come to like about matte glosses like Pro-Matte Gloss, is that a liquid matte formula defines the lips. When a matte finish is combined with a gloss application, the liquid matte formula works to contour and fill the lips. I find that it makes the lips look more full and youthful, actually. This is very opposite of matte lipsticks. With the super creamy texture of the Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss, lips are almost hydrated as the gloss is applied. It simply feels very velvety and it wears comfortably all day without drying out the lips.

There are ten beautiful shades in the line-up with everything from nudes to reds.

Blushing Ambition (300)
Fuchsia Amnesia (302)
Rebel Rose (304)
Aphrodite Kiss (306)
Shanghai Scarlet (308)
Forbidden Kiss (310)
Rouge Envy (312)
Nude Allude (314)
Statement Nude (316)
Bare Attraction (318)

I got to try out five of them. My favorite by far is Blushing Ambition with Bare Attraction coming in a second. I want to pick up the other nude shade, Statement Nude.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss sells for $9.99 each at your favorite drugstore or mass retailer like CVS, Target or Walgreens.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips.

Though I haven't talked about it much, I am really into ColourPop! Have you heard of this new-ish cosmetics brand? It is an online only, super affordable brand of high-quality makeup products. I reviewed a few of the products previously here. The brand offers a ton of products in a ton of colors — or should I say colours? I am dying for them to launch a full-on lipgloss; you know how much I love a great gloss! Until then, I have to settle for their latest launch ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips. As soon as Satin Lips launched last week, I placed my order.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips

Knowing how pigmented ColourPop lip products are, I wanted to try the more nude and natural looking lip shades. I ordered Magic Wand, Echo Park and Frick 'N Frack and tried them the second they came through the door.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips

Magic Wand is a dark nude lip color. Echo Park takes that nude shade and kicks it up just a notch and adds a little bit of peachy color to it. Frick 'N Frack is a very dark burnt rose shade.

Ultra Satin Lips look quite different on the lips than they do swatched. They dry down pretty matte and are much darker than I would have expected. These are not nearly as matte as ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips, but they are not as satin or have as much of a sheen as I thought they would. They feel creamy on the lips though. The brighter shades look to be more satin in the swatches on their site. The pigmentation is incredible as I expected. One swipe over the lips is all that is needed. Being that I prefer a lighter and glossier finish, I do top them off without a bit of pearl gloss like this from NARS or MAC.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips

These does not run at all and it fades naturally and evenly. I'm really impressed with how long Ultra Satin Lips lasted on me overall. I would say it lasted a good five to six hours before I noticed some fading which was very gradual. I still noticed color on my lips beyond that point.

There are 16 shades in the ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips lineup:

  • Magic Wand - light nude
  • Echo Park - light peach nude
  • Dopey - dusty mauve
  • Lyin' King - raspberry
  • London Fog - cool blue-red
  • The Rabbit - bright fuchsia
  • Panda - deep pink violet
  • Marshmallow - lavender grey
  • Mess Around - grey beige
  • Petit Four - deep charcoal grey
  • TooLips - deep plum brown
  • Frink 'N Frack - rose terracotta
  • Tanzy - medium yellow-brown
  • Cozy - orange-red
  • Lost - brown-red
  • Prim - dark black-red

I hope they come out with a real gloss soon!

Each Ultra Satin Lips sells for $6.00. Buy it at colourpop.com.

Top 10 New Lippies for Spring 2016.

With all of the new spring collections coming out this time of year, there is one product that I look at more than other and that is the lip products. You know I love a great lippie and I have more lip products than anything else in my vast makeup collection. There are a lot of great new lippies coming out this spring be it in the collections or as sole launches. From lipsticks, balms, glosses — just about everything you can think of in a range of shades from barely there to the bright and bold. I have cut through the clutter and searched for the bests of the best to bring you the top 10 new lippies for spring this year.
