I love a natural makeup look in the summer. Think glowy, bronzed skin, neutral eyes with lots of lashes and nude lips — lightly bronzed, soft and beautiful. On a recent trip to Sephora with gift cards in hand, I decided to pick up some Too Faced makeup to create a natural summer look that I could wear every day.
I started my look with a primer, and instead of their regular primer, I tried a sample of Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. This primer is infused with coconut water to hydrate, smooth and brighten the skin while locking down makeup for all-day wear. I like how this primer makes my skin look more radiant. For eyes, I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance which is my regular eye shadow primer of choice. It's not pictured because my tube is so beat-up. Shadow Insurance locks-down my eyeshadow for the day while making sure it is waterproof, creaseproof and looks more vibrant.
For my eye look, I selected the Too Faced Natural Eyes Neutral Eye Shadow Collection. This is the second time I've owned this palette, and I needed a second one because I have used it so much. This little palette packs a punch with nine beautiful neutral shades of shadow. Like most of the brands palettes, there are three larger shadows that you are going to use the most — think highlighting and all-over shading, then six shades to accent and blend. These shades are all very pigmented and stay put, especially when paired with the primer. Just because they are natural does not mean they are boring. I can use the lighter shades for day and create a deep smoky eye with some of the darker shades like Sexspresso and Erotica for a summer night.
I finish my eyes with one of my all-time favorite mascaras, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. If you haven't tried this mascara yet, go and get yourself a tube! This mascara does so much for lashes; it is insane. It features a cool hourglass-shaped brush that helps to wiggle the dark black, volumizing formula into the lashes, so lashes look extra full and defined.
For cheeks, it's all about bronzer and Too Faces has quite a few bronzers that I like. I layer to bronzers on my face to get my natural summer look. First, I apply Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer on my cheeks, across my forehead and chin. Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer is a matte bronzer that looks very natural on the skin. I then apply Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer just onto my cheekbones. Sun Bunny is a duo bronzer with a shade for contouring and highlighting. I honestly don't worry about that for this look and simply swirl a large fluffy brush into the pot and blend them together. I dust the bronzer mix onto the apples of my cheeks and blend upwards as I would a highlighter. The result is glowy and gorgeous. Sidenote: if you have large pores or fine lines, Sun Bunny may accentuate them, so blend well or skip this.
Finally, for lips, I LOVE the Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lip Cream. For summer, I recommend the nude shade, Naked Dolly. This lipstick is a lovely, nude pink shade that looks natural on the lips. It has a satin finish, and it wears well. This lipstick is moisture infused, so it feels hydrating. It doesn't last much beyond three hours, but I don't mind re-applying my lipcolor. For a nighttime look, I like deeper shades, and I am going with their Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick. Melted is a high shine liquid lipstick that looks like a gloss but feels like a lipstick. It comes in a tube that squeezes out of a brush-like cap. I received a free sample of Chocolate Honey, which is a beautiful brown shade, which I'll admit might be hard to pull off. I like the formula, so I will be buying more in shades like Melted Sugar or Melted Melon, which look perfect for summer.
I love this look so much that I even wear it when I go to events. I recently wore this makeup to a summer evening wedding. All I did was add a little extra black eyeliner and went over it with Sexpresso to soften it a bit.
