Happy Mother's Day Sweepstakes!

Happy Mother's Day!

I was recently asked by Olay "What advice did you learn from Mom that makes her your beauty by example?". My answer was featured in the May issue of ELLE magazine!

Declare Mom your beauty by example by going to facebook.com/olay to join in with the Olay feature yourself.

My mom did influence my beauty routine by teaching me that sleep is very important; sunscreen, of course, needs to be used everyday; and that by sticking to a great skin care routine will keep your skin glowing.

Did you mother influence your beauty routine? What did she teach you? Leave me an answer in the comments for your chance to win the ultimate Beautiful Makeup Search Beauty Box - my gift to one lucky reader for Mother's Day.

My mother taught me about sunscreen from an early age. I may have very pale skin but it is beautiful and I look 15+ years younger than most of my friends whom worship the sun.
This is a marvelous mothers day contest that I would love to win. The products sounds great.

My mother taught me about vaseline as an eye makeup remover. I swear it has helped me keeps the wrinkles at bay because my skin feels very moisturized after. It is cheap and easy to use to. I've been using it for 32 years!

Thanks mom for the great advice. I don't even think that she knows I still use it now. I'll bring this up to her today.
My mother taught me that I should use concealer where I need it and then just a light dusting of powder. I've never had to wear foundation because I can blend it so right.
Lots of sleep and lot's of water. Pick me! I'd love to win!!!
My mother taught me about how to wear makeup, how to remove it and told me that I should play up my eyes because they were my best asset. She hooked me onto Maybelline Great Lash and I still use it to this very day.
I want to win this contest. I need a new hair dryer and always like to try new makeup.

My mom has worked at an Estee Lauder counter for 23 years. I get to try a lot of her products and she does the best makeup.

She taught me how to apply my makeup, try new makeup colors and that using less is really more, and she had me start using Advanced Night Repair when I turned 21. I use it every night and my skin looks great!
My mom was notorious for making sure I washed my face and put on face cream every night and sunscreen during the day. She also always made sure I had chapstick in the winter. I used to get annoyed with her about it but now I'm glad that I listened (as with most lessons she taught me haha).

Most importantly though she taught me that you don't need makeup to look or feel beautiful... but that is fun to play with. :)
My mom did not play a major role in my make up routine but, she did taught me about red lipstick. This is one of her must make up item.
My mother actually did not influence me in my skincare, but my favorite aunt certainly did - and it is that lack of influence that made me very very conscious of how important it was to teach my own daughter about taking care of her skin from a very early age. I did not want her to duplicate the sun damage that I caused to my own skin (mainly through ignorance of the effects of the sun on our skin back then) She is 28 & her skin is flawless - I remind her frequently what a gift that is & that she must maintain it for life!
Yes and I still follow it. be natural be yourself.
My mother actually didn't teach me anything about skincare, I had to find out on my own.
My mother believed in a minimalist approach to beauty. She taught me to exfoliate with a wash cloth and mild soap, moisturize my neck and get plenty of fresh air and sunshine:) I have taught my own daughter to always use sunscreen too.
My mom told me to never go to bed with makeup on and I never have.
As things are always bigger here in Texas, my mother taught me how to apply false lashes when I was 17 and I still wear them to this day. (We both sort of have an addiction to them and our makeup is not complete without a big pair. We really need to look into getting the must talked about lash extensions)
it is funny that you are featured with olay because my mother always used oil of olay. the pink lotion, remember it? I used to dream of using it but they've come a long way. I do use some of their product, like the regenerist line, but I probably wouldn't have started using it without knowing how beautiful it always made Mom's skin.
my mother taught me to smile & laugh because it helps the face to become more beautiful. Also she taught me to use yogurt as a mask for my face yo keep it young, healthy, and bright.
I loved to watch my mother get ready for dates with my dad. makeup powder perfume and the most expressive eyebrows. i even put makeup on the styrofoam head that she kept her wig on! and she loved it! my mother is 84 next week and in a wheelchair. she finally let her hair go gray, but she will still put on lipstick and look like the most beautiful woman in the world.
My mom taught me how to use black kohl liner to make a cat eye. Please enter me in your contest, I enjoy reading your blog, thank you!
She taught me to always moisturize to keep your skin looking young and that did influence me to regularly use moisturizer w/spf
My mother was a natural beauty and never wore makeup - ever. She did have such beautiful skin and swore by wearing a lot of sunscreen and moisturizer.
Mom taught me about my favorite cosmetics line MAC!!!
My mother was all about smelling beautiful and sexy. I learned all about sensual notes of a fragrance and how to layer edt, lotion and powder.
I miss my mother dearly . She was my shopping buddy, especially when it came to beauty.

She always said that less is more, which took me some time to catch on. I now adhere to this notion in everything, makeup, fragrance, jewelry, accessories.

It is so true.

I no longer have to pile on the makeup and only use what accentuates my features. I wish I had listened to her sooner.
Please enter me into this contest. My mom taught me so much but most of all to be honest, drink a lot of water every day and get plenty of sleep. It has helped me immensely.
mother influenced me in how i carry myself, how i dress and how i look. i never eave the house without makeup on. mom never did either and since i graduated university, i wear makeup and look my most beautiful every day.
