NARS Summer 2012 Collection.

I love seeing the summer collections roll out this time of year. When they debut in January, it is just too early for me. But with the weather warming up (it felt like summer here last week!), I am playing with summer shades. One of my new favorites comes from the NARS Summer 2012 Collection. Of course the entire collection is full of great new shades that are perfect for any summer look.

Summer brings with it a cocktail of warm earth tones and brazen shimmers. Eyes glisten in icy peach and matte apricot, or shine in iridescent orchid and blue. Lips are subtle in a glossy nude beige pink, or bold in matte strawberry red. A delicate seashell pink lends nails a flattering hue for an overall look that’s sizzling, sophisticated and—like so many summery moments—simply unforgettable.

The Summer 2012 campaign was designed and photographed by NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars. Once again, the inimitable Ginta Lapina personifies the look. He explains how he created the look for Ginta.

To begin, St. Moritz Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ was applied to the center of the face with the fingertips and blended outward, then set with Eden Loose Powder to create an immaculate complexion. To lend the skin a light bronzed look, Laguna Bronzer was dusted onto the face in the shape of a ‘3’, starting at the forehead, swept on to the cheek, and then along the jawline. The apples of the cheeks were warmed with Liberté Blush and the face further defined by softly dusting Taos Blush along the hairline.

A mixture of the silver and icy peach shades of Ramatuelle Trio Eyeshadow were brushed onto the lid and blended up into the crease. The apricot shade of the Trio was added in to the crease, with the silver shade swept along the lower lash line. The upper and lower lids were lined with Via Veneto Larger Than Life® Long-Wear Eyeliner. After curling the lashes with an eyelash curler, two coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara were brushed on to the lashes.

Finally, the lips were lined and filled with Borneo Lip Liner Pencil—blending with a finger to soften the color. Moscow Pure Matte Lipstick was applied, then topped with Risky Business Lip Gloss for shine.

The collection includes:

  • Ramatuelle Trio Eyeshadow (Limited Edition) $45
  • Marie-Galante Duo Eyeshadow $34
  • Calabria Soft Touch Shadow Pencil $24
  • Liberté Blush $28
  • Moscow Pure Matte Lipstick $25
  • Vendanges Lipstick $24
  • Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil $24
  • Never Say Never Velvet Matte Lip Pencil $24
  • Trouville Nail Polish $18

I have been using the Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio and it is so pretty and perfect for an easy summer eye. My review on that will be up later today so stay tuned.

The NARS Summer 2012 Collection is available now at, NARS counters and Sephora.

Seriously - that Liberté Blush is calling for me. It looks like the perfect blush/bronzer combination. You know, the color you always try to get and ix a blush and bronzer. Fingers crossed it is my answer!
François is a genius I swear. I can live without some of the products, but the summer collections are always, always, always the very best. I'm grabbing both the shadows for sure. Very different, but both very wearable for summer.
Have you tried the Velvet Lip Gloss pencil? Dying to know about staying power?
Once again, I am in awe of the collection. Every season I am running to the NARS section in Sephora to see what is new - like a crazy woman. Thanks for the great post!!!
Patty - someone needs to make the perfect bronzer/blush shade, don't they? Liberte does look like it would be close, but I haven't use it. The reviews I have read are all favorable and I think you will love it.
Heather - I agree with you on the genius comment, for sure.
Hey Maxine - I have never tried a Velvet Lip Gloss so I cannot speak to how it wears. Sorry about that!
