When I first heard of the MAC Grand Illusion Liquid Lipcolor collection, it was unlike anything that I could imagine. Holographic shine is something hard to describe. I mean, I can imagine what a holographic lipgloss or as MAC is calling it, a liquid lipcolour should look like. Many brands have tried to pull one off. But, in all honesty, no one has been able to pull off what MAC has; a magnetic, hypnotic, futuristic, lip gloss packed with iridescent pearls that leaves lips with a magical look that is beyond surreal.
There are fourteen shades in the Grand Illusion Liquid Lipcolour lineup and I was lucky enough to have seven of them sent to me. I have played with all of them and there is not a shade that I am not entranced with — even the yellow and green.
Lunar Module - pale blue iridescent pearl
Electric Rainbow - opalescent pink and multi gold pearl
Twinkle Twink - coral with gold pearl
Broken Halo - silver with multi-colour iridescent
Peace, Love, Unity, Respect - green with iridescent pearl
Pink Trip - bright pink with blue iridescence
Florescence - electric yellow with pink iridescence
Sensory Overload - blackened deep purple with shimmering iridescence
Space Bubble - blackberry red with red iridescence
Let's Rock - coppered orange with green and yellow iridescence
Pearly Girl - cool pink with red and gold iridescence
Gilded Age - illuminescent bronze gold
Queen's Violet - royal purple with blue and pink iridescence
Rave Bunny - bubblegum pink with electric blue iridescence
I am layering the colours and wearing these shades in ways that I never thought I would. These colours are out of this world beautiful and only your imagination is the limit.
I have been wearing Twinkle Twink, Let's Rock and Queen's Violet (pictured above) on repeat. That says a lot for a normally neutral lip kind-of gal like me. I LOVE to layer Florescence (it's an electric yellow shade) over Let's Rock for a one-of-a-kind golden orange/pink. I just ordered Electric Rainbow as it looks to be my kind of shade.
On the lips, some of the shades are more sheer (Florescence and Broken Halo) while others are quite opaque (Queen's Violet and Space Bubble). They all have the slight MAC vanilla scent/flavor and a new cooling sensation that I have never experienced from a MAC lippie before.
