As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I like to support the various efforts, this months Beauty News Roundups on Sundays will highlight various efforts from our favorite beauty brands.

Every year, global landmarks are lit pink to raise breast health awareness. This year, BCA will be virtually turning the world pink through messages of hope. P&G Beauty's Do Something Beautiful
This years the P&G Beauty Breast Cancer Awareness campaign focuses on spreading the word on the importance of early detection through regular health screenings. Read the real-life stories of 6 different P&G employees who have been impacted by breast cancer and be inspired.  You will see these employees in advertisements throughout the month as well as on the P&G Beauty Facebook page. Make sure you “like” the page as P&G will donate $0.10 to National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) for every "like" it receives.

Also, throughout the month of October, shoppers will receive a $10 rebate and will also trigger a $10 donation to NBCF with the purchase of $50 worth of P&G Beauty products, including Venus, Olay, Secret, CoverGirl, Nice ‘n Easy, Pantene, Safeguard and Ivory.

Look in your newspaper today and on October 16 for GIVE Hope brandSAVER flyers. In it you will see  discounts for P&G products, including Olay, Pantene, Crest and many more. Additionally, for each GIVE Hope brandSAVER coupon redeemed, P&G will make a donation to NBCF.

Pantene and the Beautiful Lengths Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness.

I know I have my favorite Breast Cancer Awareness products featured together, but I am really impressed with this initiative so I wanted to feature this alone.  You see, Pantene is addressing both October and Breast Cancer Awareness, while helping women get over the fear of losing their hair in undergoing breast cancer treatments with it's Beautiful Lengths campaign.

Having cancer is bad enough and it saddens me to think that 58% of women consider hair loss to be the worst side effect of chemotherapy; in fact, 8% of these women will potentially avoid life-saving treatment altogether due to this hair loss fear. This is devastating.

So, what is Pantene doing? Beautiful Makeup Search Joins "100 Bloggers Unite Against Cancer" with Ralph Lauren.

I was honored to be asked to be amongst 100 bloggers to unite against breast cancer with Ralph Lauren. There was no way I could say no to such a fabulous cause.  As we embark upon the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, this is the perfect time for us to come together and do all we can to support this wonderful cause.

Ralph Lauren and the Polo Ralph Lauren have been dedicated in the fight against breast cancer for over 20 years. Even though October is nationally known as Breast Cancer Awareness month as I noted above, Pink Pony is not just an “October” effort. Pink Pony is a year round effort that is run globally. Ralph Lauren galvanized the fashion industry when he took a stand against breast cancer in tribute to his friend, Nina Hyde, former editor of the Washington Post. He played a huge part in establishing the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative, which has now raised over $40 million.

Ralph Lauren has continued his commitment by dedicating his polo player icon to the Pink Pony Campaign, which is his version of the “pink ribbon”.  While the Pink Pony campaign was initially established with a focus soley on Breast Cancer, it has now expanded to include other cancers as well.  The message of Pink Pony is unique as the campaign addresses the needs of those that need it most. The fund goes directly to those in need of quality cancer care.

2010 is very special as Ralph Lauren is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with the Pink Pony Fund of the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation.  In recognition of this milestone, there are many new exciting products available and initiatives to support.  Not only are luxury products available for purchase, there will be a Pink Pony online public auction hosted by Charity Buzz, as well as text to donate campaign.
