12 Best Bronzers to Fake a Tan.
/Yay for the long weekend coming up. With Memorial Day upon us and it being the unofficial start to summer, it is time to start thinking bronzers for faking that summer glow. Just a little bit of bronzer can do wonders for warming up your face and bringing a bronzed look to it.
Bronzer is really easy to use and the best part is that you can control how much you apply it too. If you want to just look a bit more warm, dust it on your cheeks lightly. If you want to look like the sun kissed your face, apply it with a brush where the sun would hit you - cheekbones, nose, center of forehead and your chin. If you want to look like you have a great tan, dust bronzer on like you would a powder - all over your face.
I have talked about bronzers a lot before. Last summer I even categorized them into my Favorite Drugstore Bronzers and my Favorite Luxury Bronzers. This list of bronzers are either bronzers that I continually use or have just discovered but have already become part of my bronzer rotation. You will notice that some were on my favorites list too. Think of this as my overall favorite bronzer list, updated for 2013.
1. Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzing Powder - $75.00
This luxury bronzer is perfect as it is "tailor made" for skin tones with four shades of bronzer in one palette. You can use each bronzer separately for each season or swirl them together like I do to get the perfect complimentary skin glow. I use Natural Blondes.
2. Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder - $38.00
This natural looking matte bronzer is my year round go to luxury bronzer.This bronzer adds that subtle warmth to my skin that I like on a daily basis. I like the matte formula for a natural everyday look. I use the shade medium.
3. Laura Geller Baked ImPRESSions Bronzer - $38.00
This bronzing powder is a baked version that offers a super silky feel and beautiful suntan glow to the skin. It is long-wearing and water resistant which is a must for the summer. It is also infused with antioxidants making it good for the skin.I use the lightest shade for a very natural looking bronzer look.
4. NARS Bronzing Powder - $36.00
This luxury bronzer is one that I have turned to for years. While I have used the cult favorite Laguna in the past, I recently discovered the shade Casino which is the darkest of the bronzer shades. This bronzer makes sure my bronze is deep yet believable. I like to swirl this bronzer lightly all over my face with a big fluffy powder brush.
5. It Cosmetics Vitality Glow Anti-Aging Matte Bronzer - $34.00
This matte powder bronzer adds both warmth and a subtle radiance to the skin. While it is matte, the anti-aging ingredients make skin appear younger and not flat as some matte products do. The compact is huge making it easy to use a large powder brush with it to add an all over bronzer look to the face.
6. LORAC TANtalizer Baked Bronzer - $32.00
This bronzer offers a superb radiant look to my skin. I prefer to use this bronzer when doing a night out look. It applies like silk and is best applied with a blush brush to control the amount of bronze because with this one less is more.
7. MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder - $30.00
From the MAC Temperature Rising summer collection, this powder bronzer looks beautiful on my skin and lasts all day, which I really need in the warm months. I use the shade Nude on Board for a natural bronze look. It is a silky bronzing powder that is perfect for everyday.
8. Anastasia Illumin8 Bronzer - $29.00
This luxurious bronzer both looks and feels beautiful on the skin as it give my cheeks a sun kissed look. I wear this bronzer all over my face when I want a light bronzed look. The formula is very hydrating so that it never settles into fine lines or wrinkles and makes my skin look better when wearing.
9. CARGO Water Resistant Bronzer - $28.00
This water resistant bronzer (that recently made my favorite waterproof makeup list) is a must for the summer. This bronzer has a perfectly natural shade of bronze color with a subtle glow (sheen) to it. It lasts all day and never streaks when I sweat. I use the medium shade.
10. IMAN Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder - $16.00
This sheer bronzing powder leaves my skin with a perfect hint of coral and bronzed glow. This bronzer contains three shades of bronzer and blush that when blended together looks beautiful on the skin. I use the shade Afterglow and apply it just to the apples of my cheeks, as I would blush.
11. Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Face Illuminator - $8.99
This drugstore bronzer is like a bronzer/highlighter in one. The formula reflects light to highlight the skin and create a warm shimmery glow while warming it up with a bit of bronze. This bronzer comes in one perfect universal shade.
12. NYC Sun 'n Bronze Bronzing Powder - $4.99
This drugstore bronzer has been a long time favorite bronzer of mine. The bronzing disc contains three various shades of bronzer that when swirled together offers the perfectly sun kissed look. I like Hamptons Radiance for a pink bronzed look or Fire Island for a pure golden bronze tanned look.
